Before Violence


There was a fun jam held on itch.io called the Visual Essay Jam. You can check out my entry here. I recommend checking out the other entries too. Mine focused on the game Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, a cover shooter that has a very unique presentation despite the rudimentary gameplay. The game is gritty and violent, but the menu screens are oddly serene. My attempt was to highlight this by placing pictures of the menus next to pictures of the gameplay. Here's a video of one of those menus (not recorded by me):

Before Violence was kind of a late entry. My original idea was to submit something about an obscure PS2 game called Okage: The Shadow King, originally released in Japan as Boku to Mao. However, the slideshow I made is unfinished and not perfectly organized, but here it is anyway:
